Sometimes science is a sad thing… All this publish or perish madness is already upsetting enough, but fake journals which constantly spam you with most stupid emails, are even worse.
One of the worst examples in the computer science sector is GESTS (http://www.gests.org/). These jerks send me at least once a month an email starting like this:
Dear Author
Hello?
As a general chair of GESTS, I am happy to invite you for the acceptance of your
paper to be published in the GESTS International Transactions. This e-mail has
been sent only to the authors who chose as a high quality paper that had been
accepted as one of two parts of GESTS international transactions as follows:
[…]
I especially appreciate the Hello?… After getting this for months, I contacted them to stop spamming me (yes, that’s never a good idea with spammers, I know…) - without any reaction. Then I send an email indicating that I am very interested in publishing something in their journals, just to see what happens - again no reaction.
Some Dr. Bruce M. Bae is mentioned in the emails as the general chair of GESTS, but probably that Bruce is as fake as their journals. I really wonder if someone is naive enough to make deals with them. If I will ever find a reference to a GEST journal, I will at least have a good laugh…

Something’s wrong with science…
